CATHEDRAL FOUNDATION AND DISCIPLESHIP SCHOOL – CFDS

(Special Discipleship Programme for Cathedral of St. James the Great)

A Vision for Our Spiritual Growth:

The vision of this programme is to establish EVERY MEMBER of the church as a Spirit filled Christian fully equipped to fulfil every area of calling and take up leadership roles in the body of Christ. The mission however is to teach all church members the basic truths of the bible in order to deepen individual understanding of the Christian faith and equip each one as a disciple of the Lord Jesus and soul winner for the kingdom of God.

And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars forever and ever. Dan 12:3

The Cathedral Foundation & Discipleship School is an adult-level systematic training programme developed for the spiritual growth of all members of the Cathedral. It is designed to make disciples of all members who will in turn be shining examples to others in the body of Christ thereby fulfilling the Great commission of discipling the nations.

For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: Eph 4:12-13

This programme shall be classified into 2 sections-a Junior & Senior section.

  • Foundation School- Junior Section
  • Discipleship School—Senior Section

The Foundation school section is designed to establish all members both long standing and fresh members of the Cathedral. This is however compulsory for all intending church workers as no one may join a unit or department of the church without first graduating from the Foundation School. Church members who are already serving in one unit or department shall be given a stipulated period of time to enrol in the school, complete all classes and graduate before continuing as a church worker. It is also expected that intending candidates for confirmation first graduate from this 13weeks programme before furthering into their confirmation classes. It is however expected that ALL MEMBERS of Cathedral of St James the Great both elderly and young pass through this 13 weeks programme which will hold Mondays 5:00pm-6:00pm

The Discipleship school section is opened to every member who intends to be ‘committed’ in their relationship with Jesus in being a disciple. It is however for people who want to go the extra mile in their walk with the master. This will also hold every Monday 5:00-6:00pm. It is open to members who have graduated from the Junior section..The Foundation school.

Candidates for admission are to obtain admission forms at no costs from the church office fully filled and returned immediately.  A brochure and the manual for lectures will be handed over to such candidates. Candidates will be fully registered with the registrar of programme and will proceed to attend classes. Candidate should note that absenteeism from one lecture will cause the candidate to repeat the class before forging ahead in the programme. This is especially peculiar with the foundation school.

The Cathedral Foundation & Discipleship School is run by a Board of Management. This includes;

  1. The Provost- Dean
  2. Sub-Dean-An appointed designate among the Clergy
  3. Registrar- An appointed designate among the laity.

Post Foundation School

It is the desire of the church leadership to ensure that graduates from the Foundation School are co-opted into any of the activity/ministerial groups or units. The following activity groups/units are recognised and new ones are founded:

  2. Technical Unit
  3. Evangelical Group
